Scientists have found the fossilised remains of a 150 million-year-old stegosaurus in central Portugal. The discovery of the prehistoric creature, which has gigantic armoured plates zigzagging down its back, is further evidence that Europe and America were once joined.

LISBON (Reuters) - A baby seal has been found near a beach south of Lisbon on Friday, after it swam thousands of miles from the north-Atlantic in search for food.

Dinosaurs? In the wildlife section? Well they were once! And here on the Silver Coast we have the dinosaur capital of Portugal in Lourinha with it's own dinosaur museum.

We took a trip to see the Dolphins in the Sado Estuary by taking a trip out across the bay at Setubal a couple of years ago. When I went looking for the web site today, I first found the TAP (Air Portugal) web site on the subject which offers a discount on these trips to see the Dolphins.
The TAP web site above allowed me to click through to Vertigem Azul which is the company we used for our trip out into the Bay.
A more local Dolphin trip at Nazare this summer might also be of interest.
Has anybody else seen the flamingos on the lagoon? I have only seen six but I'm told that there is a resident flock of about 30.
