Beginner's surf courses on the Silver Coast

As a beginner, we teach you the basics of surf as a sport. You’re supposed to be able to swim. Even if you’ve never seen the sea before, we guarantee that we will make you stand on a board and be able to surf a wave. That is our commitment and our mission.

You will learn how to handle the board in the water, where you should position yourself at sea, how to lie on the board, how to paddle to catch your waves, and how to stand. You will also learn techniques to clear the break-point and surge to the crest of the wave.

Hora: 03-08-2006

Jazz returns In August to the Gulbenkian Foundation gardens for a week of concerts entitled “Under the influences of Coltrane”.

Silver Coast

Voted one of the top three places to invest by Channel 4 in the UK.

Stretching from Lisbon to Fiqueira da Foz, Portugal’s Costa de Prata (Silver Coast) is a gem of largely undiscovered beauty and gets its name from the effect of the sun on the waves of the Atlantic Ocean. Unlike its more famous and populous cousin in the south of the country here you can discover pretty villages and a real Portuguese way-of-life amongst stunning coastal scenery fringed with the best beaches in Europe. Because much of this area of Portugal remains undiscovered by the mass tourism market you can guarantee a beach to yourself even in the height of the season if you are prepared to drive and walk a little way.

Mediaeval Fair and Market - Obidos

From the 13th to the 23rd of July 2006.

The Medieval Fair of Óbidos will be throughout the streets, courtyards and alleys of the historic town. The rows of market stalls, with items made in the spirit of the Middle Ages, will create the real feeling of a fair. Along with the public, over a hundred actors, numerous musicians, dancers, beggars, victims of the plague and other performers will liven up the market spirit. Outdoor reenactments performed amidst the public bring to the stage noblemen and peasants, clergymen, merchants, artisans and jesters. The displays by master craftsmen and apprentices, will provide an insight into medieval handicrafts. Also local traditional food will be served in a true medieval atmosphere.

The Medieval Fair of Óbidos this year has the theme of a royal visit and will include horse tournaments, processions, concerts, plays, medieval banquets, court scenes, falconry exhibitions, etc.

Bike Rentals

Here is a site that delivers rental bikes anywhere in Portugal
and Spain. They have a Lisbon office. Deliver to your hotel etc.
at an extra charge.

Hourly, daily and the weekly rates. The rates don't look cheap
to me, see...

http://www.bikeiberia.com/rentals_rates.html

Around 75 Euros a week for a kids bike, 100 for a standard bike,
more for mountain bikes.

Pre-registering is required at

http://www.bikeiberia.com/rentals_anywhere.html

How much do bikes cost in the supermarkets now? Saw some for
sale in Le Clerc's just the other day.
