LISBON SWIMMING POOLS CLOSE
A SHORTAGE OF CHLORINE FORCES THE CLOSURE OF LISBON SWIMMING POOLS
Six of Lisbon's ten municipal swimming pools were forced to close for a few days this week when their stock of chlorine ran out, meaning water could not be treated.
According to a City Hall spokesperson, the low stock was caused by ‘treasury issues' which were swiftly sorted out, the stock replaced and the pools reopened.
The spokesperson further explained that when chlorine stocks run out the pools have to close "for public health reasons".
It was also revealed that the City Hall sports department would soon issue a proposal to compensate those who were affected during the closures.
