DRUNK DRIVER RELEASED TO DRIVE WRONG WAY DOWN THE MOTORWAY
A driver, who hours earlier had been detained following a positive breath test, was released before being spotted driving the wrong way down the A23 near Guarda.
The 51 year old driver was breath tested following an accident in which he had been involved. The duty magistrate decided that he should be released from custody but alarmed motorists called the police to say that a care was travelling the wrong way down the motorway.
After 24 kms the driver was detained for a second time and was kept in custody overnight befor appearing in court the following day.
