One million Europeans to sign against nuclear power

One million Europeans to sign against nuclear power from "The Resident | Greater Lisbon Edition"

• The campaign aims to stop or at least delay the construction of new nuclear plants in the EU

THE Portuguese national association for nature conservation, Quercus, is organising a petition in Portugal to help a European campaign against nuclear energy reach one million signatures.

The objective of the campaign is to convince European countries to put emergency measures into action, including stopping or delaying the construction of new nuclear plants in the European Union, as well as launching a plan to abandon all use of nuclear energy in the EU.

In addition, the campaign aims to promote mass investment in energy conservation and the development of renewable energy throughout all Member States. Part of this plan encourages ending all association with the European Committee of Atomic Energy, Eurotom, who support nuclear energy through public financing.
