Following the demise of Portugalia's Manchester/Lisbon service options for anyone living in the North of England have been limited. Only Ryanair offers cheap flights from Liverpool to Porto but this entails a long drive through horrendous roadworks to reach the Caldas area.

Thomson has recently announced a new service from Manchester to Lisbon (see www.thomsonfly.com) which will commence in May 2007. There will be flights on Monday,Tuesday,Thursday,Friday and Sunday (at reasonably user friendly hours!) and the quoted fares are around £9-73 each way excluding taxes,airport charges etc.
