my wife and i have visited for eight years in a row on summer vacation.we are currently planning a move of permanent residence to portugal.we have vacationed in over twenty countries world wide, and have never been so taken with the beauty and local hospitality as we have in portugal.as of january 2008 we will be proud to call ourselves citizens.
Whilst Portugal is not Paradise it is possible to live well here amongst genuinely friendly people and to 'do your own thing' without attracting derision or criticism. The Portuguese are very tolerant and truly welcoming to estrangeiros
well for your information, a study was just released this week on the best places in the world to live. Canada was 7th and Portugal was 8th! I am very impressed! Born to Azorian Parents in Canada but my heart is in the mainland!

Congratulations! I hope you enjoy living in this country as much as we have for the past 17 years.
